CASE STUDY: 50MW UK Battery Energy Storage Facility
We're thrilled to share our latest success story! Working closely with our partners, we supplied high-performance Elpress bimetallic cable lugs for a major 50MW Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) facility in the UK.
The Challenge
Battery storage facilities require the connection of massive aluminum cables to copper busbars. This introduces the risk of galvanic corrosion if traditional copper or aluminum lugs are used exclusively. The connection must withstand extremely high current loads without degrading over decades of operational life.
The Solution
Our engineering team recommended Elpress bimetallic cable lugs. These advanced connectors are friction-welded, combining an aluminum barrel with a copper palm. This completely eliminates the risk of galvanic corrosion at the connection point.
- Friction Welded Design: Ensures a seamless transition between metals.
- High Load Capacity: Perfect for the intense demands of a 50MW BESS.
- Longevity and Safety: Provides a maintenance-free connection that complies with the highest international standards.
The project was completed ahead of schedule, showcasing how the right component selection directly contributes to the success of renewable energy infrastructure.
